The grace of discipline….

Discipline:

Doing what you do NOT (yet) want to do to reap the fruit you WANT to reap.

By grace, in slow time, the discipline you didn’t want will turn to sweetest joy. You may not want to read your Bible daily now, but you will later if you do so now. That’s the grace in discipline with the purpose of godliness…It is always bearing fruit right now and later…as the Scripture says for the present life and for the life to come.

There is this Word sweeter than honey. It teaches us all things. Discipline must exist there before it can rightly flow anywhere else. You may not like the word discipline, just like my husband shrinks back when I say exercise, but we all know the results of discipline and that discipline aimed toward godliness eternally overshadows bodily discipline.

Consider….

We may not want to practice JOY in all things, but we do so now so we might experience Christ Jesus and perhapsthe feeling of it later. We may not feel like practicing thanksgiving, but doing so now guards from a hard, calloused heart later.

We may not want to clean our home, but the discipline keeps us in order and guards us from chaos later and the inability to be hospitable at moment’s notice. We may not want to fold the laundry, but doing so regularly keeps clean clothes ready to go for us and our families…

Discipline in anything is HARD, but the FRUIT outweighs the difficulty.

The grace of God appeared training us….. If we want God in the details we must be willing to be trained by Him. He is always making our sin as white as snow, training us…to renounce ungodliness. Showing us the way to walk training us…to live upright godly lives in the present age. Showing us the way to beauty, grace, freedom, peace, and everything we have ever really desired. It’s all bound up in Him. In our God living in us, through us in every detail.
