All of life is for Christ

When I look at the vast array of people our God has made, I’m gripped with amazement. Some have words that carry on for days, while others must be nearly bribed to speak. Some are short others tall. There are men and women, boys and girls. Heads full of curls and those that are stick straight. And God created each one of us with divine intention, formed for their particular  times in history, gifted with unique callings which he laid on each one.

We have the glorious truths of God’s Word in common. There are the biblical commands pressing us toward the holiness we must all pursue. This pursuit of Jesus remains unchanging, but each person’s or family’s manner of life can be enormously different and that by God’s design and gracious will. There is no one stamp that will fit the life of every person, and God means it to be so.

I enjoy sharing aspects of my life with you, but I never intend to set my life up as any sort of standard. Jesus is our aim, and I fall pitifully short of Him. We all stand in need of grace to cover us, so we trust in His Gospel, such good news given freely to the most unlikely. I am an unlikely recipient of His love; I hope you find yourself in the same camp as me (inviting smile).

Here at Smiles of Grace I hope to share a little life together and I hope to share more with you. I want to span the various spaces in which we all do life. That means recipes from my kitchen, snapshots of what how I’m teaching my children, ways I’ve found to add beautiful decor while keeping spending minimal, and things like this. Sometimes when we only see one dimension of a person we can begin to find them “super human” in the area they highlight.  By reading the blog now you might think I spend every minute of time studying Scripture or something like that, but that is not life as a whole. There’s the study of Scripture which takes significant time, but there’s the living of life which takes even more time. I want to open up other aspects just a bit for the fun of it and the benefit of it too. As I lay my thoughts and truths from God’s Word before you, I pray to do so with humility. I am not perfect, and I seriously doubt you needed me to tell you that (warm smile), but I say that to unearth any notion that may be falsely conveyed through a blog like mine. You know what I mean?

The crux of Smiles of Grace will always be the Word of God, and I really do aim to make resources I’ve created available to you at the right time. This season of life has been full of change and transition for our family, and it is natural for that change to press into other areas of our life as well. I am realizing whatever this blog may be, it will grow with me. I hope you’ll stick around. I’ll always aim to let what we share here be of benefit and grace to you even if it’s a recipe or a simple decor idea. God’s Word will ever remain central.

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do {everything} in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

The sun has escaped the clouds just now, warming our home with its golden light. The God who moves clouds and sun in their spaces, is the same God that works in our lives that we might know Christ in every realm of life. So we really can smile at the future, knowing we are secured soul deep to Him. The One who holds the sun in place, holds us in the palm of His hand. May He forever direct our course and light our way.
