Crowded around each other, crayons in hand, paper spread out… Illustrating and penning their first short story with mommy’s help. The story shaped easily.

The characters:

Micah T the Tiger

Hayley Beth the Bear

Ethan the Elephant

The great villain:

A monster with a fat mouth.

The chosen hero of the story surprised me. They chose…

God as Hero.

How right they are. God is Hero even if you don’t know it yet (smile). The Lord “destroyed the monster with the fat mouth and threw him in the trash can.”

It occurred to me… that is the end of all the enemies of God. They will ALL be destroyed. They will be forever put away. God secures His children. We have no need to hide behind trees again like the characters Micah & Hayley Beth imagined, like our first father and mother, because that vile serpent of old, his mouth will be shut finally and soon.

The great slanderer, the accuser of the brethren, the One with the fat mouth indeed, will be silenced by the one who was silent before His accusers.

I didn’t have to prod the children on for them to assign God the role of hero. They have been listening to their daddy read the Word; they knew. It wasn’t deep for them, but it was deep for me.

The Word will bring those wretches to a wretched end. No need to tremble before the enemies Satan, sin, death…for the dread of God has fallen upon them. They will suffer the final silencing blow. This is the end of all the enemies of God, “one little word shall fell him.”
