image imageOn a regular basis I’m surrounded by piles of toppling pancakes, mounds of laundry, the kind eyes of my husband, and the unending needs of four unique children powerfully reflecting the beauty contained in our God; we are the image bearers. As life bears down on us we are conformed to Christ in our sufferings or we reveal our unbelief resisting the hand that saves us.

Life swirls together.

There’s a beauty in the mix, but there’s also struggle. Carving out time to pray, to believe God to be able to work deeply in all the things that concern us is a work of faith. Nothing strengthens and sustains like prayers coming true. No wonder we are instructed to pray without ceasing, to give thanks in everything.

So what if we prayed before our feet collided with the ground in the morning? What if we prayed about every single thing. We homeschool so what if we prayed before math, before handwriting, before meals, after meals, what if we lived life functionally depending on God. Believing that the Lord actually does provide our daily bread. Trusting that it is the Lord who will accomplish everything that concerns us.

When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.

Psalm 94:19

This is the manner of life I desire, because I know the weaknesses within and the pressures without. I need Christ Jesus every minute. The command to pray without ceasing wasn’t given to just give God glory, though it does. It was also given for my eternal good. So, this summer let’s take hold of the gift. Let’s cling to God our Father, because every good and perfect gift comes from Him.
